Job Title: Business Development Manager - Indian Govt Tenders (Shipping/ Defence Industry)
Reports to: Senior Management
Location: Delhi/ Mumbai
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with expertise in Indian government tenders, particularly in the shipping industry, to drive business growth through strategic tender management and relationship-building. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defense tenders, existing clientele, and experience in submitting tenders for bids.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through Indian government tenders (Defence, PSU, and GeM portals)
- Develop and execute tender strategies to secure contracts in the shipping industry
- Manage and negotiate tenders, bids, and proposals to ensure successful project delivery
- Leverage existing clientele and relationships to expand business opportunities
- Conduct market surveys and analyze industry trends to stay ahead of competitors
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure project delivery
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials, defense personnel, and industry stakeholders
- Prepare and present tender documents, bids, and proposals to clients and stakeholders
- Meet and exceed sales targets, and contribute to the growth of the company
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in business development, tender management, and sales in the Indian shipping industry
- Proven track record of success in securing government tenders (Defense, PSU, and GeM portals)
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering, electric systems, and equipment
- Experience in cost control, market survey, and financial analysis
- Exposure to working on projects from start to end as a team member, team advisor, or team leader
- Good knowledge of financials, macroeconomics, and defense shipping growth
- Existing network and relationships with government officials, defense personnel, and industry stakeholders
- Experience in operating GeM, Defense, and PSU portals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- MBA or PGDM in Marketing, Finance, or a related field
- Certification in tender management, contract management, or a related field
